Ingredients
For the Patties:
1 lb ground beef (80/20)
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1 egg
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
For the Mushroom Gravy:
2 cups sliced mushrooms
1 cup beef broth
2 tbsp flour
1 tbsp olive oil or butter
Optional: 1/4 cup heavy cream
Instructions
Prepare the Patties: In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Form into oval patties.
Cook the Patties: Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook patties for 4-5 minutes on each side until browned. Remove and set aside.
Make the Gravy: In the same skillet, sauté mushrooms until browned. Sprinkle flour, stir, then gradually add beef broth. Simmer until thickened. Add cream if desired.
Combine: Return patties to the skillet, spoon gravy over them, and simmer for a few minutes to heat through.
Notes
For a gluten-free option, substitute breadcrumbs with crushed gluten-free crackers or oats.
Serve with mashed potatoes or rice for a complete meal.
